Bio

Coach Woods brings 24 years of coaching experience, with 19 years at the high school level and 5 years in youth sports. For him, coaching has always been about mentoring and preparing young people for life. Former head coach of Virginia Academy and Assistant Athletic Director. He has coached at Fairfax County Public Schools (McLean HS, South Lakes HS), the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (PVI, Bishop O'Connell), and Prince William County Public Schools (Patriot HS, Brentsville District HS), where he held various roles, including offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and freshman head coach.

Inspired by his own mentors, Coach Woods was determined to give back after graduating from Virginia Tech in 2002 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Academics are central to his philosophy, where he emphasizes the importance of the "student" in student-athlete. He is a certified NFHS interscholastic coach. Coach Woods believes that sports mirror life, presenting challenges where one may experience both victory and defeat. His philosophy emphasizes resilience, picking oneself up after setbacks, learning from them, and continuing to move forward.
